Part Time Receptionist (20 hours per week)

We are seeking a professional and friendly Receptionist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for our members and customers, providing exceptional customer service while managing various administrative tasks. This role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a busy office environment.

Duties

  • Greet visitors and members warmly, ensuring a positive first impression.

  • Manage incoming phone calls with excellent phone etiquette, directing calls as necessary.

  • Assist with clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, and scanning documents.

  • Maintain a tidy and organised reception area to create a welcoming environment.

  • Handle correspondence and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.

Experience

  • Proficient in using computerised systems and software.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a keen attention to detail.

  • Previous experience in data entry is desirable.

Sports and Leisure Apprentice  (18 month contract, 36 hours per week)

This is an exciting role if you are looking to get into the leisure industry. The Sports Centre Apprentice will have the opportunity to gain an array of qualifications including National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ), STA award and Certificate in Swim Teaching, Level 2 Fitness Instructor and Leisure Team Member. It requires excellent attention to detail and exceptional people skills.  You will be flexible to work across a 7 day week rota including evenings and weekends.

Main duties

 

  • Assist in the day-to-day operation of the running of the sports centre, ensuring that all health and safety legislation codes of practice and operating procedures are complied with at all times

  • To ensure that all loose equipment is erected and dismantled on time in accordance with recommendations and code of practice and used correctly by members and visitors at all times.

  • To actively sell the benefits of regular exercise and health promotion to the lifestyles of all members and prospective members.

  • To constantly supervise the swimming pool (when on pool duty) to ensure the safety and welfare of all users in accordance with the company’s operating procedures.

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the centre including the swimming pool, changing areas, sports hall, squash courts and astro turf.

  • To co-operate with the Management team in all issues of health and safety under the provisions within the Health & Safety At Work Act 1974, the Company Health & Safety Policy, Operating Procedures and any other subsequent and/or relevant legislation

  • To attend programmed staff meetings and training as required by the Manager

  • To actively promote the name of SSLL, Oxley Sports Centre and Sherborne Girls (SG) in all transactions with members and visitors. 

Full Time Recreation Assistant (36 hours per week)

Recreation Assistants are an essential part of the operation of our Centre. This is a responsible role which is key to the safety and well-being of our customers; it requires excellent attention to detail and exceptional people skills. You will be flexible to work across a 7 day week rota including evenings and weekends.

• To gain, hold and keep valid the National Pool Lifeguard and first aid qualification. Attendance to staff training is requisite to ensuring validity of your qualification.

• To attend programmed staff meetings and training as required by the Manager

• To actively promote the name of SSLL, Oxley Sports Centre and Sherborne Girls (SG) in all transactions with members and visitors.

Pilates/Yoga Instructors

We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate instructor that is able to teach both Pilates and Yoga to join our team. As an instructor, you will have the opportunity to educate and guide individuals in achieving their fitness goals through the practice of both Pilates and Yoga.

Main duties:

 

  • Provide cover for Pilates and Yoga classes, focusing on the correct form and technique 

  • Provide clear instructions and demonstrations of exercises

  • Create a welcoming and supportive environment for customers

  • Maintain a clean androgenised studio space

Qualifications

  • Certified Pilates and Yoga Instructor with a recognised certification 

  • Stong knowledge of anatomy and biomechanics

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively educate and motivate clients

  • Ability to adapt exercises for clients with injuries and special conditions

  • Reliable, punctual and professional demeanour.

Climbing Instructors 

Oxley Sports Centre has an unrivalled Climbing and Bouldering wall in the area and we are looking for a new instructor to join our friendly team.

 

You would be required to lead and supervise junior and adult climbing sessions with one regular class a week and opportunity for cover.  

Qualities we are looking for include:

 

  • Qualified to at least CWA level

  • Enthusiastic and outgoing

  • Have lots of ideas and a sense of humour

  • Ability to work as a team and use your own initative

  • Organised, proactive and reliable

  • Have experience working with children.
